The Parish Council is required to have a website accessible for all users and a Website Accessibility Statement for the Public Sector Bodies (Website and Mobile Applications) (No 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, which came into force in September 2018.
2. Current website
Wythall Parish Council hosts a website, www.wythall-parish-council.org.uk which is not fully accessible to all users. We have begun making PDFs, which have been uploaded on to the website accessible and some of the colour contrasts however, there are elements which do not meet requirements.
To rectify this, the Parish Council are in the process of having their website redeveloped to comply with the accessibility requirements for Public Sector websites, Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, which came into force in September 2018.
The new website is being designed with accessibility in mind. The Parish Councils new website, www.wythall-pc.gov.uk will meet with accessibility requirements, allowing users to:
- Zoom in without the text spilling off the screen.
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard.
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software.
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader.
The Parish Council are expecting the new, accessible website to be launched early October.
